Tino’s is definitely a spot that has grown on me and is slowly growing on the city of Atlanta. It holds little events throughout the week, and they NEVER disappoint.
Last Thursday had to be the BEST time I ever had in this place, and im not the only one that feels this way lol. It was the afterparty for the Infinite Appeal fashion show and the Bliss Skate Co. OFFICIAL LAUNCH PARTY.
THIS THURSDAY, BLISS SKATE COMPANY will be takin over Tino’s yet again for BLISSFUL THURSDAYs. Hosted by CJ The Fly Guy and on the 1s and 2’s KT/Code Red’s very own DJ Iceberg and Untouchable DJ Bush. I got an OFFICIAL interview from the CEO of Bliss Skate Co. It’s a tad bit lengthy lol, but a VERY interesting story.
Check it out!
Give the people a brief synopsis who you are?
Darius G. is my name and I am the CEO of BLISS Skate Company. Better known as KD. Im a 22 years old entrepreneur from the midwest on the come up.
How did you come up with Bliss?
Bliss was found in 2006 when I started skateboarding...Moving from South Bend, Indiana to Atlanta, Georgia I've always found myself being the new guy no matter where i went. I didn't know too many kids in my neighborhood but the ones I happen to meet were skateboarders. I started skating with a few of the kids I met. They taught me everything they knew from sun up to sun down. That’s when my passion grew for skateboarding.

At the time I was still head over hills for fashion and have been since high school. At that time I was known for custom painting shoes, Skateboard decks, and clothes. Being different was something I was born with because everywhere I went, I fit in with all types of different people no matter their age, race, or, culture. So it was only right to start a new group when I begin to skateboard. We were called R.U.D.E Woodpusha's (acronym meaning; REMAIN UNIFIED DURING ESCAPADES) meaning stick together as a unit during your adventures, no matter what it was we were doing...To this day we still have cops that LOVE to abuse they're power against skateboarders, unfortunately I met some myself.
I know how it feels and that's where the RUDE part of us came from. As time progress, I realized you can't fight fire with fire forever. I started to grow mentally and physically searching for something that really complimented who I am. So Heaven was my first pick for the name. It was too cliche. I wanted something more subtle but powerful. I sat down and asked myself, "What makes me happy?" I answered, "Skateboarding" and that's where the name BLISS derived. That's when the clothing line started to fall in place for me. At that point in time skulls & crossbones were super DOPE that summer. I started designing the Bliss logo using the whole Skull and crossbones idea only putting my own twist to it. Taking two skateboard trucks and 4 skateboard wheels was one of many very ingenious ideas I came up with.
I decided to stick with that as my main logo...Still feeling like something was missing with the whole Crosstruck idea. I added a skull with a halo to sit on top of the Crosstruck design. They say the skull represent death so I added the skull with a halo because I wanted everyone I came in contact with from that day forward to know that I am a firm believer in Christ and if I died today I am bound to go to heaven and that’s where the halo came into place. I lived right outside of Powder Springs GA in a small town called Hiram. Located in the heart of Paulding County was a skate shop called Inland Board House. That’s where I got all my inspiration & motivation to continue to push Bliss as a company. Inland Board House was also the first and only skate shop where you could actually find Bliss in 2006.
The whole skull movement died down, so I've removed the skull and trademarked the Crosstruck/halo logo. Year after year I run into people who feel BLISS is for skaters ONLY. They are wrong. I want all my customers to know you don’t have to be, act, or look like a skater. You can be who you are just trying to live a blissful life doing what makes YOU happy.
I found my BLISS now let me help you find yours.
Oh wowwww. That was a very motivating story. It’s amazing seeing young people such as yourself take their dreams and turn them into reality. I’m personally huge fan of the line and I know others are too. Where can people get their hands on the merchandise, like Where is it available?
