If you live in Atlanta, and not under a rock, and you appreciate the art of tattooing or art in general then you have heard of City Of Ink. Nestled in Castleberry Hill Art District, COI is one of the top tattoo parlors/art galleries around, and my personal favorite.
On February 26th from 7pm-10pm City Of Ink will be the location of POPULAR. A Juried Art Exhibition. I had the great honor and opportunity to ask COI's Miya Bailey a few questions about the upcoming show! Check Out The Interview:
For those who may not know, what exactly is a "Juried Art Exhibition"?
There will be people judging the art work.... The winner will get art supples from Binders art supplies. But it's not about winning or losing we just want to inspire younger artists to step out the box and fit no stereotypes in art. The Atlanta art scene leaks what the art scene in San Fran, NY, & LA has...we want to inspire people and show them Atlanta do support fine art and art thats don't just the norm.. COI will cont' to give back using this tool we call "art"Who are some of the artists that are already submitting work, and will you be entering anything yourself?
I'm sure you've had a sneak peak at some of the artwork for the show, how does everthing look? Can we expect to see some amazing pieces?
Yes I seen some pieces that I want to buy for my personal collection.. There is some amazing work and they're all
Affordable for anyones income... Very inspiring art....this 18 year old artist dropped her art off yesterday... It was a style of painting I never seen before...this will be her first show ever so that moved my soul in a special way.
What is it that will make this show stand out from the rest that we may see in other galleries around Castlebery Hill?
City of Ink art shows feel like a family gathering... There is no dress code and everyone is welcomed to come and join us...we also welcome first time artist and art that usually can't be seen in other Castleberry hill galleries... We try to walk our own path so our art show are different from the rest...Sophie & Corey got all the sponsors for this show.... Kidrobot is one of the sponsors so we will have gifts for the first people who show up at 7pm
The whole city seems to love and support art shows at City of Ink, will there be another coming in the near future?
We try to do art show every 2 months....from solo shows to group & theme show..if your an artist and want to do an art show at COI just call 404-525-4465 1pm-10pm
I know that questions are limiting, so if there was anything else you'd like to let the people know about the POPULAR show or City of Ink....What would that be?
We will be filming all week at City of Ink to show what we go thru everyday and how hard it is to do these art events... Working with other artists us very hard work...but at the end of the day the drama behind the scenes are all worth it....this show will be amazing, food, drinks, music from the DJ, give aways, and affordable art work for sale...this is only one City of Ink... And we set trends never follow them... Inspire your City
I can't even begin to tell you all how excited I am about this show! Even if I tried I wouldn't be able to express the amount of talent and dope work that will be involved. It's simply something that you will have to experience yourself!
